Presentation of Awards to companies from 49 countries from all over the world for achievements in Quality and Excellence. GEOANALYTICA received the International Quality Crown Award in the Gold Category in London 2009. In recognition of Commitment to Quality, Leadership, Technology and Innovation, GEOANALYTICA represents success for Georgia in the business world.

The presentation of the International Quality Crown Award 2009, organized by B.I.D., took place on November 30th in London’s Guoman Tower Convention Hall. The event was presided by Jose E. Prieto, President and CEO of Business Initiative Directions, along with outstanding personalities from the business world and the diplomatic corps. The main sponsor of the IQC Convention was ImarPress, which covered the news on the presentation of the awards in London through its more than 26 publications in English, French, Spanish, Russian, and Portuguese. In this way, the B.I.D. quality symbol has made its presence known in 178 countries around the world, and has created a firm ground for the implementation of an integral quality process through the technology and procedures of the QC100 Total Quality Management. For Jose E. Prieto, President of B.I.D., “the awarded companies are symbols of commitment to leadership, technology, and innovation which make them models for other companies of their sectors.” The 48 countries from Europe, America, Africa, Asia, the Far East and Middle East received the International Quality Crown Award as recognition of their achievements in spreading Quality Culture. Among these outstanding companies are: Ansaldo Energia, Italy; RAO – Unified Energy Systems of Russia; Turner Construction International LLC of the U.S.; KEPCO, South Korea; and Als & Cachou – TBWA , France.

Mineral Resources of Georgia, A. Tvalchrelidze Caucasian Institute

The mineral resources of Georgia are both varied and extensive. The State is producing at present more than 25 different kinds of minerals in commercial quantities. This great diversity of mineral resources is accounted for in a large measure by the great diversity in the geological formations.

The Borjomi mineral water and the mining of manganese have traditionally been the “trademarks” of Georgia’s mineral resources. These and many other resources were utilized in the country to “feed” the giant industrial machine of the Soviet economy. Inefficient mining of the variety of minerals are classical examples of environmental mismanagement.

A. Tvalchrelidze Caucasian Institute of Mineral Resources is leading research and coordinating center of the Caucasus for complex geological and technological studies of different mineral resources in the Caucasian region. The institute had been engendered as a department of mineralogy and petrography headed by professor A.A. Tvalchrelidze at the Tbilisi State University.

Complex methods of research have become traditional for the institute in its efforts to explore mineral resources and to study the deposit geology. During the Institute’s long activity numerous deposits of bentonites, marbles, chalcedony, arsenic, barite, mineral paints, decorative stones, slates, basalts and other minerals used in the country’s national economy have been explored and recommended for industrial exploatation.

An extensive research work of the Institute is devoted to the problem of metallogenesis of the Caucasus as well as of individual deposits, to regional and local metallogenic forecast. Some of the Institute’s departments, sectors and laboratories have envolved from units organised as early as in 1929, while others emerged in response to the latest demands of scientific research. The creation of institute, as connected with necessity of country development – the particular, discowery, study and exploitation of deposits.

Georgia's Historical Foreign Relations

Georgia maintains good relations with its direct neighbours Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey and participates actively in regional organizations, such as the Black Sea Economic Council and the GUAM. Georgia also maintains political, economic and military relations with Japan, South Korea, Israel, Ukraine and many other countries, and is on its way to becoming a full member of NATO.

Cooperation between Poland and Georgia continue to thrive in many fields including within international organizations through political initiatives and mutual support which include real perspectives to develop bilateral economic relations.

Furthermore, Georgia maintains significan ties with United States and European Union, demonstrated through such texts as the joint signed statement of the Georgia-European Union Action Plan within the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP).

The enactment of the Partnership for Peace (PfP) agreement between Georgia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization culminated with the Georgian parliament voting unanimously for the bill which calls for integration of Georgia into NATO. The majority of Georgians and politicians in Georgia support the push for NATO membership.
